🌿 What is Indigenous Friends Association?
IFA is an exceptional Indigenous-led tech not-for-profit organization in Canada. Founded by Alejandro Mayoral Banos, PhD , a remarkable Mixtec/Totonac academic and activist, IFA’s mission is to bridge the gap between Indigenous peoples and digital technologies. They achieve this through community engagement, research, software development, and education. IFA’s primary focus is empowering Indigenous youth in urban and post-secondary settings, providing them with safer digital spaces and meaningful connections. IFA’s initiatives directly respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action No. 7 and 66, addressing employment and educational gaps among Indigenous communities. Through remote program delivery, IFA equips Indigenous participants across Canada with vital tech skills, preparing them for success in the tech labor market.
Leadbright is committed to hiring interns from IFA’s remarkable IndigiTECH Mentorship Program. We are thrilled to welcome these dedicated and skilled individuals who bring unique perspectives, blending traditional values with 21st-century digital competencies. With their contributions, they will add diversity, inclusivity, and fresh insights to the Technology and Innovation sector.
We are genuinely excited about the immense potential this partnership holds and the positive impact we can create together. Let’s embark on a transformative journey to promote diversity, inclusivity, and tech equity in the digital world. 🌐✨
